Why hiring is this hard

$20,000

What an empty van costs a month

A service technician brings in about $240,000 a year. Every month the seat is empty, that work goes to someone else.

3–5%

The share of workers looking for a job right now

The good techs already have jobs. They don't read job boards. They hear about a shop, then look it up.

42%

Contractors who say new hires don't show up, or quit early

A job ad that says nothing attracts people who'll take anything. A clear one attracts people who chose you.

Figures: revenue per technician from industry benchmarks (MarginPlug, Prophet Accounting, 2026); share of active job seekers from ServiceTitan; no-show figure from the Associated General Contractors 2026 workforce survey.

We looked at 24 shops in Dallas–Fort Worth

About 4 in 24 show what the job pays

The rest say "top pay" or "competitive wages". A tech with a job won't call to find out.

Most hiring pages are a form and nothing else

Good shops with great crews and hundreds of five-star reviews, and none of it shows where a tech goes to apply.

Some are paying $5,000 to $10,000 in signing bonuses

The money is already being spent. The page a tech lands on is where it's being lost.

See what you'd get

We made up a shop called Hartley Air to show you. Yours would have your name, your people and your numbers.

1. Your hiring page

One page that answers what a tech wants to know: what it pays, what the days are like, who does well there, and how to apply in two minutes.

2. Your hiring reel

Cut from the phone video your crew already shoots. Fast, on the beat, with your pay and your name on it. This is the one techs send to each other.

You also get two more films and a set of posts in the same style, enough for two weeks.

An example reel20 seconds. Made with stock footage for a made-up company.

How it works

  1. 1

You send us what you have

Ten questions about the job and the shop, and whatever photos and phone video you've got. About 30 minutes of your time.

  2. 2

    We build it

The page, the films, the ads and the application. You see it all before it goes live, and we change what you want changed.

  3. 3

    You add one link

In your job ads, your Instagram and Facebook, and your website menu if you like. We never need a login to your site.

What it costs

$2,500, once

For everything above. Half to start, half when you approve it.

$79 a month after that

We host the page and keep the roles, the pay and the ads up to date. No contract. Stop any time and we hand the page over.

What we don't promise

A hire. Nobody can honestly promise that. We promise a page and films that give a good tech a reason to apply, and we count your applications before and after so you can see the difference.

Questions

Do you need access to our website?

No. Your hiring page sits at its own address, like join.yourshop.com, with your logo and colours. You link to it.

We don't have good photos or video.

Phone footage is what we want. A tech walking round the van, the morning meeting, the owner saying what the shop stands for. We send you a short list of what to film.

Do we have to show pay?

We'll push you to show a range. It's the first thing a tech looks for, and almost none of your competitors do it. It's your call.

Which trades?

HVAC, plumbing and electrical, and shops that do all three.

Do you find the technicians for us?

No. This makes your own hiring work better: your ads, your referrals and your social pages all lead somewhere worth landing.

Who are you?

Kordan is a design studio that builds websites and films for home, design and build firms. Kordan is a trading name of First Class Virtual.
